The Watchdog with David Bozell
A federal judge ruled against President Donald Trump this week on PBS and NPR funding.
The ruling generated headlines. Rest assured, the ruling didn't change a thing, and the outcome remains the same.
The $1.1 billion Congress rescinded last year is still gone. PBS and NPR remain cut off from funding through 2027. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is still shut down. One of the most significant victories in years remains intact.
The ruling addresses the executive order that halted smaller agency grants, a lesser-known pipeline that had quietly directed taxpayer dollars into PBS and NPR. A reopening of that channel is now possible, and Democrats will push to expand it.
The core result stands. The largest stream of taxpayer funding remains shut off.
MRC will continue fighting every attempt to restore funding, whether through agencies or legislation. Any effort to reopen the flow of taxpayer dollars will be exposed.
I will be traveling over the next few days, but I wanted to wish you and your family a happy and joyous Easter.
Thank you for making this work possible.
Take it easy,
David Bozell
President
