Media Research Center, 05/19/2025

HERNDON, Va. – The Media Research Center (MRC), America’s leading media watchdog, announced today that president and founder L. Brent Bozell III will step down after 38 years. David Bozell, MRC Vice President for Growth and Development, will assume the role of president effective May 27, 2025. The leadership transition marks a new chapter for the organization as it continues its over three-decade long mission to expose left-wing media bias.

Karl Ottosen, Chairman of the MRC Board of Directors, praised Brent’s transformative leadership since founding the MRC in 1987. “Brent Bozell’s vision changed the American media landscape,” Ottosen said. “He gave voice to millions who felt ignored, and he built an institution that holds the press accountable like no other. On behalf of the Board, we are deeply grateful for his leadership and legacy. We are equally confident that David Bozell is the right person to lead MRC into the next chapter. His experience, conviction, and strategic clarity will ensure MRC continues to thrive in the fight for truth.”

Throughout his nearly four decades at the helm, Brent Bozell led the organization with a bold commitment to truth. His leadership laid the groundwork for MRC’s prominent role in national conversations around media bias and accountability.

“Founding the Media Research Center has been the honor of my life,” Brent Bozell said. “What began as a mission to expose media bias has grown into a movement that holds the press accountable, defends truth, and empowers millions of Americans to speak out. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built, and I have full confidence in David and the team that will carry this work forward. The fight for America’s culture is far from over, but thanks to MRC, it’s finally a fair fight.”

Before taking the helm at the MRC, David Bozell served as President of ForAmerica, dedicated to promoting American exceptionalism. Under his leadership, ForAmerica harnessed the power of social media to shape public policy debates and was hailed by The New York Times as “one of the great unexpected influences of the [2016 Presidential] election.”

A frequent voice in print and broadcast media, David Bozell has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, National Review, The New York Times, and TIME, among others. His commentaries have appeared in outlets including Fox News, The Hill, and The Daily Caller. He also serves on the coordinating committee of the Conservative Action Project (CAP) and on the board of the Washington Policy Institute.

David Bozell holds a B.A. in Political Science from Hampden-Sydney College and lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, Laura, and their three daughters.

“No one has done more to expose the media’s corruption and protect the truth than my father,” David Bozell said. “Brent built MRC into the tip of the spear in the fight for America’s culture, and I’m honored to carry that mission forward. The media has evolved, but so have we. MRC will meet the moment with the same fearless commitment to truth that Brent instilled from the beginning.”

The MRC Board of Directors has named Brent Bozell President Emeritus.
