Vice President of Free Speech America and MRC Business
The Media Research Center, a conservative media analysis non-profit, is seeking a Vice President
of the Free Speech America and MRC Business divisions. This professional will manage all
operations and report to the Senior Vice President of Programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
- Provide vision, mission and goals for the organization, especially as it relates to ways to combat online media censorship.
- Reach out, inform and educate other members of the conservative movement, Capitol Hill
and business community regarding online media censorship. - Supervise staff on a daily basis.
- Serve as spokesperson on TV, radio, at events and with donors – work with Marketing and
PR for promotion. - Train new department staff as needed.
- Write op-eds about department topics – either with byline or in conjunction with the
president. - Supervise editors and guide the day-to-day production process in conjunction with managing
editor. Edit department major stories – newsletters, reports, etc. Serve as final edit on some
daily stories as needed. - Serve as the primary point of contact for senior staff of all departments, including support
materials for the president and other departments – including reports, talking points and
more. - Serve as the department primary contact when dealing with donors, fund-raising and
development efforts.
Required Experience & Education:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Management (at least seven years demonstrated experience)
- Knowledge of social media companies and operations
- Understanding of Big Tech Media censorship; knowledge of the key issues and battles,
including Section 230, key social media players, and advocates for and against censorship. - Able to set goals and create vision for department
- Knowledge working with young staff and helping grow their skills
- Editing – substantive editing experience in a journalistic atmosphere
- Demonstrable knowledge of and interest in the news media
- Basic computer skills – Google Docs, MS Office suite – MS Office, Excel Power Point, etc.
- Be available for evening/weekend media as needed

- At least a 4-year college degree
- Journalism degree or journalism experience a must
- Management (at least seven years demonstrated experience)
- D.C. political knowledge/experience
