About the Role

The Marketing Assistant is responsible for various MRC Twitter and Facebook accounts, project reporting, finding and creating quote graphics, graphics tracking, and monitoring/clipping videos from events and posting them to the MRC social channels.  

The Marketing Assistant must be able to work in-person at the MRC’s Reston, VA office (no remote-only candidates please).

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage various MRC Twitter and Facebook accounts, along with Instagram and various emerging platforms
  • Closely monitor trending stories on social media and in the press to determine which are relevant to MRC
  • Track, analyze, and report performance of social media efforts
  • Assist with marketing projects and reporting
  • Finding and creating quote graphics and add then to the asset library
  • Monitor/clip videos from events and post them to the MRC social channels
  • Create weekly media reports
  • Research and manage Meltwater database social media tracking

Required Experience & Education:

  • Social Media Experience – Candidates should have relevant experience with social media platforms to include Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.    
  • Data-Driven – Candidate must have a passion for tracking performance metrics, identifying areas that need attention, and coming up with ideas to address them. 
  • Strong Communication Skills – Candidates must have proven writing skills and an ability to frame stories for social media that maximizes audience engagement. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Writing samples will be required.
  • Commitment to Conservative Principles – Candidates must be a dedicated conservative with a passion for media bias and free speech. They must understand key conservative values and embrace the mission of the MRC.

  • Strong sense for identifying and pitching social media and press content for a conservative audience

Additional Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Basic video skills
  • Basic graphic design skills
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Experience in the conservative movement
  • Experience with tracking data and metrics

  • Track Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram FOLLOWERS, IMPRESSIONS and ENGAGEMENT
  • Detailed tracking for marketing and press projects 
  • Maintaining graphics tracker and making sure items are posted
  • Detailing marketing impact for priority projects and topics 
  • Monitor new social media platforms
