The Watchdog with David Bozell
As we approach July 4, 2026 — our nation’s 250th birthday — a new national poll shows 68% of U.S. adults are proud to be American. Nearly all Republicans (95%) feel that way, and so do a majority of Independents.
But Democrats? A different story.
Only 48% say they’re proud to be American, and 55% say they’d rather live in another country. That’s not a small crack in the foundation. That’s a worldview shaped by the same sullen, American-hating media that treat patriotism like a character flaw.
Spend your days glued to MS NOW, CNN, PBS, or The New York Times, and you’d think America is a failed experiment — defined only by racism, colonialism, climate doom, and whatever new grievance the cultural left cooks up. Schools push the same message, fixating on America’s “problematic” past rather than its unmatched achievements, even disparaging the Founders.
That’s how you drain pride from a generation.
But here’s the good news: the poll shows young adults are also the most optimistic that America’s 250th anniversary can bring the country together.
And that’s the fight the MRC has led for years.
We expose and counter the media’s anti‑American drumbeat and the woke insurgency in classrooms. We defend the patriotic heroes the media tear down and the history they try to rewrite. And we honor a nation that fought and died to end slavery, saved the free world twice, and put a man on the moon — all before turning 200.
That spirit and patriots like you drive our work as the nation turns 250.
Take it easy,
David Bozell
