The Watchdog with David Bozell
This morning, I joined Maria Bartiromo on Mornings with Maria on Fox Business — and she was fully locked in on what we’re doing with MRC 2.0. Our work exposing the left-wing tilt of the Big Four news apps — Google News, Apple News, MSN, and Yahoo News.
Maria opened with our Digital News Tracker numbers: since November 1, these apps have featured 7,265 stories from left‑leaning outlets and only 539 from right‑leaning outlets. She then highlighted our new study showing a 50‑day barrage since the day after the Iranian conflict began — 634 articles from left‑leaning outlets targeting President Donald Trump and U.S. military operations, compared to a mere 41 articles from right‑leaning outlets. (The Dept. of War reposted.)
I told her why this matters: these apps have become America’s front pages. Fifty‑eight percent of the country now self‑reports getting news from one of the Big Four. And the headlines they elevate say it all — like Google News pushing a New York Times piece claiming “Trump’s Iran threats look like self‑incrimination for potential war crimes.”
Maria agreed, noting the bias is less about policy and more about tone and selection. Then she brought my point directly to Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) — that younger voters are getting their news from these apps, and the overwhelmingly negative tone will shift polling and votes.
Emmer responded that Republicans must use every available media channel to get the message out. Then he added that we could’ve done a case study on the Minnesota Star Tribune alone — calling it the “Tim Walz Tribune” after its glowing “Walz Frames His Legacy” headline that ignored billions in fraud. And he’s right: the Star Tribune rocketed into the top‑50 websites in America in January with one anti‑ICE headline after another, blasted nationwide by Apple News and Google News.
He closed with this: “The American people are much smarter than even these corrupt left‑wing journalists.”
Our work has put this issue squarely in front of Congress, national media, and the American people. It started with MRC, and it moves forward because of you.
Take it easy,
David Bozell
