The Watchdog with David Bozell
Let’s run a quick word‑association test. Who comes to mind when you hear?
“Dedicated public servant.”
“Competence.”
“Care.”
“Unwavering commitment to the Constitution.”
“Patriotic choice.”
Well, I’m guessing “Kamala Harris” didn’t pop into your head. But she did for the brain trust at The New York Times.
In 2024, the Times used those glowing terms to endorse Harris for president, while attacking Donald Trump as “morally unfit” and guilty of “operational incompetence.” This is the same paper that endorsed Walter Mondale over Ronald Reagan. Let’s just say their instincts haven’t improved.
And that brings us to a new MRC special report — released exclusively by the New York Post — exposing how Apple News and Google News consistently elevate outlets that have only endorsed Democrats for president in every election since 1988.
Our analysis found that the top newspapers and magazines most promoted across both platforms issued 31 presidential endorsements over ten straight elections — not one for a Republican.
The regulars: The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Guardian, USA Today, and then either the Los Angeles Times or The Atlantic.
Again. 31-0 for the Democrats. No GOP. Quite a streak.
In 2016, The Washington Post called Hillary Clinton “well‑qualified” while branding Trump “uniquely unqualified” and “contemptuous of democracy.” In 2008, the Post described Barack Obama as a “Man of supple intelligence.”
Supple? Were they writing a wine review?
These are the partisan platforms Apple News and Google News reliably put front‑and‑center.
I told the New York Post: “Silicon Valley has engineered these news feeds to quietly tilt public debate, insulating voters from conservative reporting while treating partisan, left-wing outlets as the nation’s default news authority.”
With the midterms approaching, the entire elitist media ecosystem — print, TV, and the major news aggregators — is doing what it always does: stacking the deck.
MRC is documenting the pattern and driving it into the open, with respected national outlets like the New York Post picking it up so more Americans see the tilt, and the pressure on Apple News and Google News keeps rising.
