News Analysis Intern
News Analysis Division, NewsBusters.org, Media Research Center - Reston, VA
Summer 2018
- Monitored and analyzed over 200 media sources—performing fact-checking and assessing bias
- Wrote 15 blog posts for the conservative blog, NewsBusters--which has a reach of over 1.5 million website visits per month, a Facebook following of over 2.7 million, and over 168k+ Twitter followers
- Authored a content piece that received over 300k clicks, and was picked up by FoxNews, Drudge Report, and The Mark Levin Show
- Contributed to the News Analysis Division’s 2018 major research project
- Networked with Media Research Center staff and fellow interns to build professional relationships

The ideal intern candidate will have excellent writing skills, a proven ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, and a positive attitude. Candidates will also have completed, or be working toward, an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; they will have an awareness of current events/media and a holistic understanding of conservative principles.
Internships are full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm for a total of 12 weeks. While this is the commitment we ask for, we have flexibility to accommodate class schedules and/or other scheduling conflicts.

MRC DIVISIONS
CNSNews interns find, research, and write news articles on CNSNews.com. Interns gain hands-on experience interviewing and reporting on Capitol Hill and at the White House.
MRC Culture interns analyze the media’s coverage of social and cultural issues — including attacks on the sanctity of human life and religion.

MRC Business interns analyze the media's coverage of business and economic issues — everything from taxes to climate change.
News Analysis interns watch, analyze, document, expose, and blog bias on the major news networks. NAD interns combat liberal media bias on the front lines.
MRCTV interns shoot and edit real-world video assignments, as well as contribute to our high-profile blog on current event topics.

Marketing interns gain experience in communications, database marketing and analytics, social media, direct response marketing, and web and graphic design.

IT interns will work directly with the network engineer, and will have hands on experience with, cloud infrastructure, virtualization, routing and switching, network attached storage, IT support and server management. Costumer support will big a big part of this internship.

Development interns assist in supporting the entire organization by working with our development team to communicate MRC's mission to our supporters.

Digital Communications Interns will work with the Digital Communications Team to help design and implement inbound marketing projects to support grassroots and development activities. Examples of projects include training guides, outreach kits, webinars, and other downloadable or shareable digital materials. These materials will be distributed via web, email, and social channels. All projects are expected to have a means of measuring success via analytics-based data.
